This is the perfect adventure for non diving persons wishing to experience Scuba Diving. Learn about basic scuba diving in a 45 minute lecture. Then don your scuba equipment for a 45 minute shallow water skill development session at Mission Point. You will learn critical basic SCUBA skills during your shallow water session. Then join your instructor for an actual open ocean scuba dive to 25 feet deep off Mission Point (NOT La Jolla Cove). See the world famous California’s State fish the Garibaldi, and other fascinating critters of the deep. This adventure includes all necessary equipment wet suits and your instructor. Adventures run daily at 7 am and take about 4 hours to complete. You should be physically fit for this outstanding activity.
Participants must absolutely know how to swim at least a 220 yards (approximately 200 meters) without stopping, without swim aids, and without standing up, weigh at least 100 lbs and be 13 years of age or older, and not currently under a physicians care for diabetes, exercise induced asthma, heart disease, chronic lung disease. or currently experiencing a cold, a sinus infection, active allergy or hay fever.
Respiratory airways must be clear.
Rentals: includes all your scuba dive equipment.

Snorkel along with your certified guide and the California Sea Lions at La Jolla Cove. Snorkel adventures begin at 1 p.m. and you finish at 3 p.m. This fun-filled and exciting activity gets you in the swim with the near-shore sea life at the La Jolla Cove Ecological Reserve. Mask, snorkel, fins and wet suit are included. You only need your towel and swim suit. Snorkelers less than 100 lbs., must provide their own full body wet suit. Children 13 years or older only please.
Guided Scuba Excursion to La Jolla Cove certified divers:

Certified divers, your first dive you will be guided on a tour of the world famous La Jolla Cove kelp forest by our expert guide. The maximum depth is 45 feet, then on your second dive to the sea cavern or La Jolla point. Or, dive at the equally famous La Jolla Canyon, a 60 to 80 ft. dive. The dives begin at 7:00 a.m. These exciting shore dives are a must for the beginning diver and the serious world-class scuba diver. Dive includes weight belt, weights, and one cylinder. Close encounters with the rare and endangered Giant Black Sea Bass, Tope Sharks the year round or all of the above plus Seven Gill Sharks in April. Don’t miss April in La Jolla Cove!

There are a multitude of interesting critters in La Jolla Canyon and at Mission Point. These guided dives meet one half hour before sunset. There are squid runs in the winter, California bat rays, two ringed octopus, and slider crabs that frequent this canyon year round. Most night dives are loaded with bioluminescent phytoplankton. Mission Point night dives are packed with octopus, lobsters crawling about and inveribrate action.
